It gives us and the pulisher great pleasure and satisfaction to put this book
in the hands of S.Y.B.Sc. Botany students and teachers of Kavayitri Bahinabai
Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon.
This text has been written according to the new syllabus of the National
Education Policy 2020 (N.E.P.-2020) of S.Y.B.Sc. of Kavayitri Bahinabai
Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, which has been implemented
from the academic year 2025-2026. The book is primarily meant for S.Y.B.Sc.
students. This is a minor subject—I, ethnobotany, which is helpful for the students
to understand ethnobotanical knowledge, different ethnobotanical plants, their
traditional medicinal uses and their administration, and also fieldwork to study
the various medicinal plants. While writing this book, a large number of reference
books, research articles, and websites were referred to. It has been written in a
student-friendly manner with efforts to make the subject matter up-to-date and
concise. We have tried our level best to bring out a quality textbook with upto-
date information, sticking to the syllabus. Each chapter is followed by shortanswer
questions and long-answer questions. A glossary is also given at the end.
We believe that S.Y.B.Sc. botany students will certainly like and appreciate
this book. Though extreme care has been taken while writing, editing, and
proofreading this book, some mistakes might have crept into the book. The
teachers who will teach are requested to point out such mistakes to us. It will be
highly appreciated. We will certainly correct them in the next edition.
We express a deep sense of gratitude to authors and publishers whose
books we have consulted while writing the book. We must express our heartfelt
