We are pleased to present this textbook titled “EL-215: Fundamentals of
Arduino”, designed in accordance with the revised undergraduate curriculum
under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This book aims to introduce

the widely popular and user-friendly Arduino platform.
The contents of this book are structured to provide a strong foundation
and hands-on experience in Arduino-based development. The book includes
the following key units: Basics of Microcontroller and Microprocessor: An
overview of microcontrollers and microprocessors, their architecture, features, and
fundamental differences. Introduction to Arduino: Insight into various Arduino
boards, their specifications, pin configuration, and development environment.
Basics of Arduino Programming: Introduction to Arduino IDE, programming
structure, syntax, and commonly used functions for controlling digital and analog
inputs/outputs. Applications/Interfacing: Practical implementation of Arduino
in real-life projects including interfacing with sensors, actuators, LEDs, motors,
and other devices.

enjoyable. It is ideal for beginners and students who wish to explore embedded
