We were prompted by an altruistic desire to publish this book. This book is well- structured and students- friendly. To satisfy the need of students and teachers, we have written the book of Geography GG-217 (OE): Physical Geography of Maharashtra for third Semester of S.Y.B.Sc. and GG-225 (OE): Economic Geography of Maharashtra for fourth semester of S.Y. B.Sc. The study of physiography and drainage is very important of the human development the economic activities the man also depends on the physiography of the region and the Drainage of the region. The Plateau is the largest physical division of Maharashtra and occupies almost 90% area of the state. Locally, it is known as Desh. It is a part of Western Ghat in Maharashtra it is usually referred to as a mountain and known by the name Sahyadri. The eastern margin of the plateau is confined by eastern Vidharbha hill complex. The Satpura- Melghat forms the northern boundary of the plateau. On the southern side, there is no such prominent confinement to the plateau. The central portion of the plateau is traversed by ridges and valleys. The study of a climate of a state is essential to understand the social and
economic status of the people. The knowledge of the climate unable to bring about planning and development in the state is also axiqute various development project and appropriate time rope maximum benefited from it the proper study
of the climate is also a section for a good result in agriculture and other aspects like aviation from water transport industrialization on so on. Maharashtra lies on the western part of the Indian peninsular plateau. The state has as wind expand and their main physical division. The untie climatic setup of the state is largely influents by the geographical futures years. Parts from the physical setup other factors like the altitude, extent proximity to the sea etc. also have plate and important role in deseeding the climate condition of Maharashtra. Agriculture is a biased of economy of Maharashtra. Due to the agriculture completed the basic needs of human population. Agriculture progresses the rural center in Maharashtra. Rural development, agricultural development and economic development there are the formula of progress of the region Maharashtra. Agriculture is the art and science of growing plants and other crops and the raising of animals for food, other human needs, or economic gain. Although Maharashtra is a highly industrialized state of India, agriculture continues to be the main occupation in the state. Majority of farmers in Maharashtra state practices subsistence farming. This means farming for own consumption. Cultivation techniques are primitive and simple.Maharashtra State is richly endowed with resources of industrial minerals like coal, iron ore, manganese, bauxite and limestone. The state has respectable deposits of various types of industrial clays, chromites, limonite and dolomite and abounds in various types of building materials such as brick clays, sand, gravel and kankar etc. Some units contain some extra points to get broad knowledge of the subject. The students and teachers are advised to strictly follow the concern syllabus. The text may require some improvement. We shall be grateful to receive suggestions from teachers as well as inquisitive students.
