Plants show extreme diversity in their morphology which is a unique character but
they show uniform basic physiological functions like photosynthesis, transpiration,
respiration, translocation, etc. Morphological diversity is an important feature in the
classification and identification of plants. The present course for F.Y.B.Sc. Botany as per
NEP-2020 for the second semester BOT-151-T- Plant Morphology is going to introduce
you morphological diversity of plants.
The Board of Studies in Botany, has taken lot of efforts to design this course with the
detailing of plant bodies. This course is concerned with the introduction of various, plant
morphology-based aspects that from root to fruit in addition to types and importance of
morphology, with micro-level objectives.
In such a new approach, we have tried to explain the concepts and most recent
information on every topic in the most lucid language so that users of this book will get
the basic knowledge of plant morphology. Sometimes we have elaborated some concepts
in most detail so that our students will benefit in facing every challenge in understanding
the subject matter. Almost every topic at the end has been provided with a very exhaustive
exercise in the forms of various questions to face the university examination pattern.
We authors are especially thankful to our publisher and all staff of Prashant
Publications, Jalgaon for supporting our activity and transferring all figures and
descriptions in an attractive form.
Actually this course ‘Plant Morphology’ (Bot-151-T) contains many figures and a
variety of concepts, so there may be chances for further improvements in the future.
We welcome and appreciate the precise comments, criticisms, and suggestions from the
readers for the improvement of this book.
