In accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Savitribai Phule Pune University has adopted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and implemented a credit and semester system across various undergraduate programmes. Accordingly, from the academic year 2026–27, Indian Economy has been introduced as a 2-credit theory subject for Semester V of the Third Year Bachelor of Commerce (T.Y.B.Com.) programme.
The primary objective of this curriculum is to provide students with a clear and comprehensive understanding of the Indian economy and its various components. It aims to familiarise students with important economic concepts, enable them to understand the functioning and changing dynamics of the Indian economy, and develop their ability to analyse economic issues and make informed economic decisions.
