We are pleased to present the textbook titled “EL-214: Digital Circuits and
Applications”, specially designed for undergraduate students as per the revised
curriculum under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This book aims
to build a strong foundation in digital electronics by explaining the principles,
design techniques, and real-world applications of digital circuits in a clear and
structured manner.
The content of the book is organized into four comprehensive units:
Combinational Logic Circuits: Covers logic gates, Boolean algebra, and
the design and analysis of circuits like adders, subtractors, multiplexers, and
decoders. Sequential Logic Circuits: Introduces flip-flops, latches, and the
design of various sequential logic circuits. Counters and Registers: Explains
different types of counters (asynchronous and synchronous), shift registers,
and their applications. Memory Devices and Applications: Focuses on RAM,
ROM, PROM, EPROM, EEPROM, and their uses in digital systems.
This book is written in a simple and easy-to-understand language,
supplemented with diagrams, tables, and examples to enhance learning. It is
designed not only to help students grasp theoretical concepts but also to prepare
them for practical and competitive examinations.
