Seed Technology BOT-243-MN and practicals based on the same course
BOT-246-MNP is newly implemented for the students who love agricultural
aspects like Seed Technology which is supposed to be heart of total agricultural
production on global level, to the crops that are grown by seed as unit of
cultivation. Seed Technology includes the scientific methods and practices used
to improve the quality and performance of seeds, including variety development,
seed production, processing, storage, testing and certification of authorized
seeds. Globally this science plays a crucial role in agriculture by ensuring a
reliable supply of high quality seeds for crop production, contributing to food
security and sustainable agriculture progress of any nation.
India is land of variety of crops under Cultivation-cereals, millets,
vegetables, pulses and many more. Now we are leader in the production of
rice, wheat, cotton but lagging in the production of oil seed crops, pulses and
many other crops also. So Seed Technology course will introduce the theory
and practicals based on certain issues of Seed Technology. These includes
major seed industries, types of seeds production and varietal programme, seed
testing, certification, processing and marketing of seeds. Now this sector has
high demand and excellent career opportunities in authentic supply of seed for
development of our country agriculture in total.
We are thankful to our publisher Hon. Shri. Rangarao Patil of Prashant
Publication, Jalgaon for suggesting in writing and presenting this new course to
the students. We are most thankful to the staff of this publication in transferring
this written literature in a book form.
We all are thankful to our readers students as well as teachers. We have
