• Applied Aspects of Plant Sciences

Plants have the unique capacity of trapping kinetic energy that comes from the sunlight and convert it into the potential form found in foods. Man is dependent on the Sun for his existence but he cannot use this energy directly. He can only use the potential energy stored in foods which is basically plants in origin. Thus plants are connecting link between ourselves and the life giving Sun. Plants provide all basic needs of entire living world, thus we all are guests of plant kingdom. Without Plants world will be devoid of all forms of life. Applied Aspects of Plant Sciences will introduce you some of the basic values of plants, role of biotechnology in agriculture and biopharmaceuticals, modern techniques of production, microbes and their roles in agriculture, role of environment and climatic changes in plant production, sustainable agriculture and precision agriculture, plant diseases and their management, importance and methods of post-harvest technology.
This book is written for F.Y.B.Sc students as per National Education Policy (2020)-NEP2020. The matter is up-to-date and in very lucid style of writing. All illustrations are according to the recent developments in the field of plant sciences.
The Board of Studies in Botany of SPPU, Pune, has taken most forward step in introducing some of the most interested aspects of plant sciences having applied values in today’s most competitive world. This has happened for the first time in the history of Botany syllabi for F.Y.B.Sc. Students. That most of the topics included in this course are valued to develop interests among the botany lovers and those who are interested in developing their career in the plant sciences. All of the topics have been written in such a way that students will love the subject of Botany. The care has been taken to provide all the concerned questinarie as per norms of university at the end of every topic, to get prepared for the examination.

Plant physiology is the study of vital activities of the plant. It is the study of structure and functions of the cell and its surrounding environment. It includes topics like water absorption, ascent of sap, loss of water through transpiration, synthesis of organic food materials and its breakdown to realese energy, nitrogen metabolism, seed germination and dormancy, production of flowering etc. plant biotechnology is a science of industrial processes like tissue culture, food production, production of recombinant plants, bioremediation and biofuel technology etc. some modern technics like genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics is now a part of biotechnology.
Savitribai Phule Pune University, Board of Studies in Botany revised syllabus and is going to be implemented from june 2020. The second paper of botany Sem III is study of course Bo 232 Plant Physiology while Sem IV
BO 242 Plant Biotechnology is credit system syllabus which is a part of this book. We have tried our best to explin all the topics in most simple and lucid language. We are confident that the users of this book student as well as teacher will be benefited to display the matter as per the requirement of the syllabus.

    Practical Botany

It is our great pleasure to introduce our book on Practical Botany for S.Y.B.Sc. as per CBCS pattern implemented from the year 2020. From this year onward the practical examination will be conducted in Sem III and Sem IV. To collect literature and protocols in systematic manner and it was first task with us and some how we have succeeded in that way.
To do practical means to understand by heart some small or complicated protocol and this is possible by having full involvement and enjoying the given task. If you understand the beauty of honest work then right mood is created in practical work. This helps to develop confidence in the personality that culminates a good success in the examination. We all expect that all students will read first introductory chapter, will act as guidelines to get correct direction to utilize very valuable time of practical class and your valued life too:
This book has two parts – First part includes protoc
